“Couldn’t We Ride?”
written by Joe Raposo
lovely pictures dance in your eye.
It all seems so right!
It all seems so rare!
Summer soft, sudden breeze, watch the wind play tag in the trees!
The world is so bright!
So perfectly fair!
Lovers sing, Children dance, For a minute, we got a chance.
This sequence was the first scene in the movie that was shot.
This clip was seen in The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years, introduced by Lew Zealand, who mentioned that this was his favorite movie scene.
The first instance of Muppet biking occurred in The Muppets Valentine Show, in which Kermit rode a bicycle in the “Froggy Went A Courtin'” number until he crashed it into a fence.
Kermit next rode a bicycle in Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas. In the special’s opening moments, Kermit cycles down a bumpy country lane before being blindsided by the Riverbottom Nightmare Band. A scale model bicycle was constructed for and ridden by a special marionette Kermit, created and operated by Frank Oz.
